Bélé Flow COLL: 4 TRINIDAD ARTISTS

Description

This was inspired by the movement of the bélé skirts in the piece inspired by artist, Sybil Atteck.

Here I am using the ‘direct silk painting’ technique, with a touch of the silk salt for texture, to illustrate the movement of the colourful, frilled skirts of the dancers. ( The bélé dance is of French origin, and is a graceful dance, where the female dancers carefully manipulate and swirl their skirts to the drum beat.)
