Description
This design was inspired by one of Leroy Clarke’s early paintings, featuring the symbolic ‘mother and child’.
I have used the curvilinear shape of a pregnant woman, and the ‘dentil’ pattern on the head, depicting the corkscrew braids, so often used in many natural hairstyles.
Shown here in a multi-coloured story, using the ‘gutta serti’ silk painting technique, with some overpainting for detail.
