This year has certainly flown by quickly!
A great deal of work was done, and with my successful solo silk painting exhibition in Trinidad behind me, I was inspired to do my next collection based on 4 Trinidadian artists I grew up admiring.
They are M.P. Alladin, Carlisle Chang, Sybil Atteck, and Leroy Clarke.
Hence the name, “Four Trinidad Artists.”
These artists painted around the mid to late 20th Century, and were all influenced by the ‘modernist’ painters of Europe, as well as African artists.
I have chosen to attempt to depict their styles, cultural and social themes, and colour palettes in my pieces, which will be illustrated on silk, to be worn or hung as home decor.
I have also chosen to introduce block printing on some of the watercolour, textural scarves.
I hope you will enjoy my experimentation, as much as I enjoy the process.
